Western bedroom furniture – Bring the spirit of the West home by designing a western cowboy style bedroom with old fashioned decor, earth colors and furniture reminiscent of the old West. Picture a western scene from an old movie and transform those ideas into your decorating plans. Choose a rustic style from the past or a more modern western bedroom. A 1950 bedroom was likely to have a large dressing table complete with detachable mirror and a women’s wardrobe with a double hanging rail and shelf system with a mirror inside the cover.

The furniture was made of walnut finish mainly. Buy rustic wood furniture that resembles that belonging to a log cabin. Solid oak, lighthouse or other hardwoods work well, but cherry wood is too fancy for a western room. If you cannot afford massive oak, look for discontinued furniture, or buy used furniture. Shredding of some types of furniture can also create a more worn look.

Leave walls white or paint with rustic earth colors and colors that match the type of western cowboy room you are trying to create. You can use dark colors, but avoid painting all the walls dark. Use only dark shades like Burgundy, forest green or floral if you want to create an accent wall and leave the remaining walls white. Determine the type of look you go for before you start painting. You can create a cowboy room with a feminine touch by painting the walls yellow or baby blue. However, paint all the walls beige, tan or other shades of brown if you want a rustic, manly cowboy room.

Visit your local antique store or department store to find western wall decorations such as ropes, old saddles, cowboy figurines and old-fashioned cannons. Place the items on your chest of drawers, shelves or bedside tables. Hang framed pictures of Western heroes from classic movies. Look for cowboy pillows to place on your bed or other furniture. Also you can have cowboy lights, miniature western cities and little horse carts.

Furniture, additional accents can add even more appeal to your cowboy-themed bedroom. An antique rocking chair in the corner of the room with a cowboy pillow on the seat or a blanket draped over it can add a dot to the room. Additional features such as a deer antler or western chandelier can also complement the style of the room. You can also find cowboy candle holders online or at some home improvement stores.
